Top 25 of 2017

In the next few days the 2017 Top 25 Countdown will be on. The top 25 women of the year in both success and popularity, which are combined using an algorithim to calculate the top 25 of the year. The hits per day on the site for all entries for each girl, multiplied b their success in competition this year.

The previous count-downs have seen Sam Quek, Dafne Schippers and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot top the list and 2017 could be time for a new name to top the list.

Although American born, Nicole competes for Slovakia, the nation of her parents, who had moved to the USA. Nicole also uses the more Anglicised verison of her name Nicole Rajic. Her best finish is a 6th in the Europeans, with finishes of 16th in the Worlds, so she is an outside chance of a medal.. She finished 34th in the previous Olympics.

Alysia is a Canadian Bobsledder. She is gunning for Olympic qualification but faces stiff competiton within Canada to be named Pilot of one of their Olympic sleds, with Kaillie Humphreys prominently as competition. She hopes to to be sliding towards that podium in Pyeongchang in 2018 in South Korea.

Height: 1m63cm (5'4)

A freestyle skier, Justine specialises in the Moguls. She is the reigning Olympic champion, winning Gold in Sochi in 2014, and looking to defend her title next year in PyeongChang in South Korea. As well as Olympic Gold she has a Gold at World Championship level from 2015, and at the most recent World Champs won Bronze. She is the youngest of free sisters competing in the same event.

Sport: Speedskater
Height: 1m71cm (5'7)

Marsha skates the 500m in the Long Track Speed Skating, and is likely to appearing in Pyeongchang in South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She ended last season as Fourth overall in the World Cup, so heads there as a medal hopeful.Last Olympics she finished way outside the medals.

Marte Løvberg

Marte is a Norwegian swimmer. Despite being just 18 she has swum competitively for Norway for several years, previously appearing at the European Games in 2015. Marte swims Freestyle, and has Junior Norwegian records, as well as part of national record in a relay team.

Daniela is a Romanian  Ski Jumper, who has competed since 2010. At just 20 now, that means she was competing as a teenager. She finished 37th in the World, and so will be unlikely to win a medal at Pyeongchang in 2018 at the Olympics, but hopefully she will qualify.
